My child was evaluated by another provider, can I still see you?

Yes! We will look over another provider’s evaluation (performed in the last 6 months) and as long as it has all the information needed we can move forward with scheduling therapy.

What happens at a feeding evaluation?

Your evaluating clinician will call you prior to the evaluation and further discuss the process based your child’s individual needs. The clinician will be there to observe a typical mealtime interaction. So you will provide 2-3 different food items and something to drink. You will use the normal utensils, plates/bowls, cups that you typically use. The clinician will observe your child’s oral function while eating and drinking. Additionally, we do a physical examination of the face and mouth. The clinician will make suggestions and may modify the way things are presented along the way. We will do an in depth review of your child’s medical history to see if there is anything that can be identified that may be a contributing factor to the feeding/swallowing difficulties. Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be given a summary sheet and recommendations the day of. Followed by a formal report that will be sent to your referring physician.
